I am watching 2 documentaries on the rise and fall of the Third Reich. Some people might wonder why I would want to watch something like that. I know all about it, so why would I want to watch about it again. Well I watch about it to remind myself of what happened in the rise of the Third Reich, which was elected by the people. If we don't remind ourselves regularly of what can happen, it will happen again and we won't recognize it till it is too late to stop it. Nazi stood for National Socialists Party. Nazis and the Fascists of Italy were on the far left of the political spectrum. The current administration is also on the far left of the political spectrum and want to control us just like the Nazis and Fascists wanted to control Europe. Am I saying that Obama is Hitler? No, but I am saying that he and his party are socialists with socialist ideals and that if we don't remind ourselves of what happens when socialism runs amok it may be too late when we realize what our government has become.
How can Kathleen Sebelius throw Verizon under the bus when she knows that it is the webpage that is the problem, not the server? This administration seems more and more like a group of children every day.
I don't take credit for this one. It was pointed out to me yesterday by a wonderful man at our church.
Why does a public school say the Pledge of Allegiance, including "Under God", and then teach Evolution???
Why does a public school say the Pledge of Allegiance, including "Under God", and then teach Evolution???
This is one that has been asked by many people but I have yet to see an answer...If Obamacare is so great, why did the President and Congress exempt themselves????
Sometimes life gets in the way of what you want to do. That is what happened with this blog a few years ago. Thankfully life has toned down so I am going back to my political blog. I will try to have a daily Query of the day and discuss the issues that are important. My goal with this blog is to get people thinking and have civil discussions about the issues of the day.
What 3 things could we do at the Congressional level that would save the US trillions of dollars?
The first thing we can do is to pass the Enumerated Powers Act. For many years Representative John Shadegg (R-AZ), has proposed a bill which would require every bill put forth in Congress to include what Constitutional Enumerated Power allows them to do what they propose in the bill. This alone would keep trillions from being spent and if pushed to give that requirement to what the federal government already does then there are trillions more we can save.
The second thing is to pass the "Clean Bills Act" or as I like to call it the "Schoolhouse Rock Bill Act". Those of us who remember Schoolhouse Rocks "I'm Just A Bill" song will know that the bill trying to get to the President's desk was "School buses must stop at railroad crossings." Short, sweet, to the point. That is what the "Clean Bills Act" would require. Every bill only covers one issue. If the bill is about healthcare, it is only about healthcare, not student loans. If we could get this bill passed, this would get rid of earmarks...saving billions more.
The third thing that needs to be instituted is the "Read it yourself" act. This bill would require every congressman to personally read all bills before they vote for them. This does not mean that their staffers will read it, but that they will. This should slow down government which is always a good thing. This might cost some money because the congressmen wouldn't need the huge staffs they have and those employees would collect unemployment for a while, but I think we can live with that expense.
If these 3 simple bills were passed and signed into law, the federal government would shrink down to a manageable size which serves the people instead of the Leviathan that is it now and we would be able to keep much more of what we make.
How can anyone who has taken an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution vote to approve someone like Elena Kagan for the Supreme Court?
When she was asked what should be a simple question, she gave a long drawn out "legalese" answer.
Sen. Tom Corban basically asked if Congress could pass a law requiring Americans to eat fruits and vegetables. Kagan at first said "that would be a dumb law". She didn't get it. I don't know specifically why he asked her that question, but I have to think it was because a case will hit the Supreme Court in the next decade, unless Congress can repeal Obamacare in the next couple of years, where the question will be "Can Congress pass a law requiring Americans to buy health insurance?"
The answer should have been to both questions...No Way can Congress pass a law that will require Americans to buy ANY products. It would be a very unconstitutional law.
She didn't say that because I believe that she thinks that the courts should legislate from the bench and that government is there to control the populist. She is very wrong, but unfortunately will probably be on the Supreme Court for a long time.
Why is there such a celebration of July 4th, but barely a mention of September 17th? I am not saying that we shouldn't celebrate the day we declared our independence from Britain, but isn't the day we ratified our constitution just as important? Many people think that the declaration is what our government is based on, but it isn't. The declaration is just that a document telling King George III that we are no longer part of the British Empire and are separate and independent States. It is long because we were kind enough to tell him why we were leaving, but we didn't have to. The listing of evidence against the crown was more for the world than for us.
While the declaration is important and should be celebrated, the Constitution is what holds our country together and needs to be celebrated as well.
